For the past five years, he has been employed by an American cruise line as a show-band musician. Prior to that, he was principle alto saxophone in an RAF voluntary wind band, clarinet in their woodwind ensemble and baritone saxophone in their big band. The wind band played for regimental dinners, concerts, bandstands in London royal parks, toured in the UK and performed in Malta, Cyprus, Norway, Saltsburg and a military base in south Germany.
Other musical experience includes a five-piece dance band and local community wind band. He is also a home tutor to adults and children and is registered to enter pupils for their Associated Board grade examinations.
Recent solo engagements include wedding receptions, cocktail parties, lunches, dinners and corporate events. The overall sound is adjusted according to the venue - large halls, open air, or more intimate locations - to ensure that guests can converse with ease.
He began playing clarinet at an early age, but decided to follow a technical career, and after a 5 year apprenticeship in telecommunications with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, he joined the British Forces Broadcasting Service as a broadcast engineer and was initially posted to Cyprus. Other overseas areas include Malta, Germany, Hong Kong and the Falkland Islands.
Music was always a part of his life and entertained with saxophone and clarinet in a variety of bands and ensembles. A well-travelled, family man, dedicated to people and entertainment.
